On This Day

This is my first real posting in ages! The one from two weeks ago doesn’t count, that was just a video with an enclosed label.
Now I have a lot to cover, although I didn’t photograph a lot during the last months. I also neglected my book which is a sad thing, and I fervently hope, that soon I can pick up the old, slightly faded threads and bring the story to an end. Actually I have written the end already, the whole thing just needs some polishing and refining, that is all. Actually I’m inclined to think that this writing break may have been a good thing? I will see and I will let you know.

Now, the reason why I got out of summer hibernation is an interesting feature I’ve recently discovered on Facebook, it’s an app to remind its users of happenings and memories once shared on their timelines. It’s called “On This Day”, and it tells you what you’ve shared one, two, three, five years ago. It’s like virtually going back in time. So I’ve discovered that today, one year ago and a day ago, on the 19th of July 2014 I’ve visited the Cologne Lights, I’ve seen fireworks with the one and we had a happy-go-lucky, good time. This year, for sad reasons, I had no company and so I stayed home. CologneLights Another, much better memory is a concert I attended five years and six days ago in 2010 (Facebook sent me the reminder for the 20th because that was when I’ve uploaded my photos) It was the premiere gig of Tired Pony, a band consisting of Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Richard Colburn (Belle And Sebastian), Iain Archer, Jacknife Lee, Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (REM) and Troy Stewart (The Windsor Player). I had a first-row seat and it was such a brilliant concert, I’ve loved and enjoyed every minute of if. Here’s a few photos I took back then.
There’s always good memories and not so good ones in the book of our lives, there are unpleasant and happy chapters in it. I’m glad I have my Tired Pony concert memories to make up for the one from last and, consequently, this year.
Next year will be better :o)
