Two remarkable people have birthdays today. One is fictional and the other one is not, he is real or so I still believe. Both share the same date of birth and both are special men.
The fictional one’s name is Onno Quest, and he is one of the protagonists in a favourite book of mine, “The Discovery Of Heaven” by Harry Mulisch, a novel about religion, philosophy, languages, science, life and actually nothing in particular and everything all the same, but I won’t write a review now, that’s not the topic of this post. It’s the other one, whose birthday is today, who has been my inspirational friend for so long.
We met about nine years ago, at the beginning of November (that was a good November, too) and one of his first comments I remember, was that he shares a birthday with Onno from “The Discovery Of Heaven” and so I knew he’d read the right books :o) He also told me another thing he liked about his birthday date. It is symmetrical – 271|172. Symmetry, a harmonious balance of proportions was always important to him, when he created his images and photos …
I also found out quickly that he’d listened to the right music as well, and has, in fact, an excellent musical taste. For years and years we’ve been recommending music or “lalla” to each other, quite a few good band I discovered this way, and vice versa.
Now, I haven’t read about or heard from neither of these birthday men in a while, but never ever would I forget the book protagonist let alone my friend. The fictional character is long gone, but for my friend I hope and wish that he is happy and well and that he has a lovely day today. With good lalla all along.
